I was just wondering, who here has acrylic tanks and who has glass?

Glass wont scratch as eaisly, doesnt have to have as much support (larger tanks) because glass doesnt bow out, and AFAIK glass is clearer optically than acrylic.

Though Acrylic seams are WAY stronger, and it is way better at insulating than glass is, acrylic does hold up to shattering better than glass, but you can scratch it way eaiser than glass.....thats the main reason I like glass.

We only have one tank, 74Gal. Glass. I LOVE glass, but if I ever get anything bigger (eyeballing 150+ tanks) I am afraid of the weight issue...

I like glass because they are more economic but acrylic is lighter and can be molded into unusual shapes but are more expensive and scratch easy but most scratches can be repaired with a repair kit.

my 55g acrylic just got a new scratch this week. Scratching is definetly an issue.

There's one more to consider , plastic- welll then I guess pond but to keep it indoor, almost half my tanks-12 are plastic, tupperware half the price of glass, though more difficult to heat.
