View Full Version : What about your OTHER babies??
I've seen some other peoples fish loving kitties on another thread.... Here is my jealous hound. He HATES it when we sit and try to watch our fish. He will usually sit between us and the tank and his ears obstruct the view... and those are SOME ears too! :)

He's handsome, what's his name?
My dad used to tell this "joke" about big ears, something to the effect that when they were handing out ears, he thought they said "beers" so he ordered 2 large.

His name is Dingo... Which seems to be the name EVERYONE gives their Aussie Cattle dogs... HA!
We didn't know a thing about the breed when we got him. He came from a puppy rescue. We were just told that they were very intelligent and that they are puppies for about 5 years.... and that's about right! He's nearly 6 and is finally calming down. And he is the smartest dog ever. Too smart for his own good actually.

Our lab Daisy has a life vest. People think she's a service dog when she wears it. On the tag, it says lab (you know, as in labradorable retriever?) tested. :D

I love showing off my other baby too! Her name is Rosie, a 6 year old Dachsie. I almost lost her last year when she unexpectedly became paralized from her waist down, but with some hard work on both our parts she recovered completely. Here is a pic of her drooling over the fish! :)

Wow! Look how intent she is! :)
That's how Dingo looks when watching the kennel club dog shows on TV!
:D
Did Rosie have intervertebral disk disorder? My papillon mix has that. as as I understand dachaunds usually get the acute version while my dog has the chronic type- he got so bad last winter we thought we would lose him- did you do surgery or restict his movement and give him medicine- what do you think of rimadyl?

We never really got a true diagnosis for what she had. I had taken her to 2 different vets and they both couldn't tell me for sure, but more than likely it was inervertebal disk disorker. Both vets had told me that surgery would not have been a good idea and that it could have done more harm than good. She was given a couple of medications (don't remember the names) that she took for about 5 weeks and she had to stay in a small kennal for the whole time. When she needed to go potty, I would take her outside, stand her up and hold her while she went. The only other time she was allowed out of her kennal was when I would sit her next to me and I would massage her back. During this difficult time, my family (including hubby) and friends would tell me that I should just euthanize her because she would probably never get better and she required a lot of attention. Their was no way I was going to give up that easily. And look at her now! She still is a bit wobbly sometimes and when she runs she looks like a bunny cuz both her hind legs move at the same time, but other than that, she is back to normal. So is your dog still like this? What has the vet told you to do as far as remedies? How long has he been like this? I hope he gets well soon!

And this is "Tippy" the 'all nose' beagle.

I'm still trying the find the "lifejacket" pics of the dogs on our boat.
These two pics were taken with an Olympus C8080WZ camera (8 megapixels).
The camera has so many settings, it makes taking pictures fun...
