I have a 29g with 2 pairs of rams. One set has paired up and are guarding a spot on the gravel in the middle of the tank. I have slate caves on each side, but they have choosen the gravel in the center of the tank. Maybe this is because it is surrounded by plants.

The male and female are guarding this spot and "fan" the spot real often, but I can't see eggs yet. Not sure if I'll see them in the gravel. I'm wondering does this sound like they are getting ready to lay eggs?

Also is this normal for them to pick gravel to lay eggs? I heard they would only do it on the slate.

Well I looked again and I clearly have lots of eggs in this little pit they have made and they continue to fan them. Between the four rams and four cories though I think they will be ate at some point.

The males are really going at each other now. One charges the other and the spin in circles. If anything its very interesting to watch.
