They're now moving.

Trying to start up again
posted a thread last week about helping my girlfriends parents with their tank.

thanks for the help on that one - problem is now they have decided on having new carpets so the tank has to be moved (in three weeks). and as they are also planning on moving to france later in the year they have decided not to put the tank back together.
They have asked me to to dimantal the tank and rehome the fish.
i would like to keep some of the fish as i've seen them grow and even bred some of them. but i have no room for another tank.

tank to be moved, 3 platies, 8 neons, and four corys.
my 40g, 1 angelfish, 6 neon rainbows, 8 rasbora, 7 corys, 2 ottos and 1 clown pleco.
my 20g, 3 swordtails, 2 platies, 1 guppy. 1 fry.
My mother 15g - 2 dwarf gourami and 6 rasbora.

i was thinking the neons in mothers 15g as she wanted some anyway. but the others i'm unsure what to do??
could ask my mother see if she want another setup, or could take fish to lfs, if no other way. i really want to keep the 2 cory sterbai, the other 2 i think are peppered corys.

cheers shekoi.

There's a dilemma. You do seem well stocked in your 40gal but may be able to add at least the two cories. You could add all four then keep an eye on ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and do appropriate water changes. Once things balance out, it may be too overcrowded though. It's worth a shot! The 3 Platies would go alright in your 20. I would watch mothers tank most closely since adding the 8 neons (presumming all adult fish) would be practically doubling your bio-load.
Good luck!

cheers for the reply.

i've decided on the same thing more or less - i'll do an extra water change a week to help with the increase in bioload, i'll tell my mother to do the same, or last least change more during her weekly water change maybe 30% instead of the 15% she does now.
