I have a tomato clown in a 20g tank at my parents house and while I was staying there overnight I noticed the clown didnt move around much.He stayed in one corner of the tank or specifically one side. The tank is nice and psaced out there are no other fish in there and he just stays in one area. Could it be that there is too much current for him and thats the only spot where its not so strong. I am using a Marineland Penguin 170 biowheel filter alond with some LR as a biological filter. I know the filter is for a 30g but thats all they had left. So is the current to strong?

Tomato clowns get a little to big for your 30 gallon, but to answer your question, no it isn't because you have too much current, they tend to do that when resting at night. Although I HOPE you cycled. what are your water parameters?

when my tank finished cylcing, a few days after, i baught 1 paculera clowns (sp), i watched it all night, watched it the next day, and she sat in the one side also.... i then thaught it might be lonely, since it was in a tank with a few other, i baught another one a few days later, and after i acclamated the second one, and let it free into the tank, the one is never on that wall now, and is always roaming around....

so simpaly maybe it's lonely, but as i've read u have to be careful when putting more then one clown in a tank, expecialy if they are older... and roughly about the same size...

good luck on teh problem tho... hope my story helped a little...

my two cents...

oh its a juvenile tank raised. so I think it might be lonely. Its not the only fish in there now , (got a damsel)it just has no anemone or other clown. I was considering buying a new smaller one but I have so many projects and tasks on my plate its just really not an option unless I can get one cheap! I mean REAL cheap! Or if the FS i work at will let me take home the little tomato clown in the main display tank.

Umm your nitrates shouldnt be 0
they should be around 5
How long has he been in the tank?
Clowns and damsels are technicaly the same. (same family)
they are both highly teritorial fish. One need's to go or someones gonna end up dead. You are pushing your luck as is haveing a fish that will grow up to 5 1/2" in a 20G tank
