I'm a new member, and I have two ID sharks, and they seem very lazy. All they do is lie on the bottom of the tank unless it's feeding time. There still very young, the largest one is 4" maybe. I know how large they get, however they will be going into a indoor pond later, right now there in a 55 gallon tank.
Is this normal for them to lie around all the time? Please help....

Hi, welcome to the board. Irridescent sharks usually swim almost constantly, so I would say what you are seeing is not normal. What are your water stats?

whaaaat?? .....you sure that they're irredescent?? Mine never sat still!

Even when they are at the bottom, they should still be moving around...Im not too sure what's wrong with them..

I had some ID sharks a ways back (lost them: ich). I saw the same behavior. They (2) found a hiding spot and stuck there on the bottom for the majority of the time. They were new though, perhaps getting accustomed to the tank.

Really?? I never really saw mine stay stationary for very long. They usually just swam right along the glass or irradically somewhere else.

We have had them for about three months at first they used to swim up and down one side constintly but now they do just find a place and sit. We knew something was wrong cause everyone says there active but ours are not, we took the water to the local pet store about an hour ago they said our water is fine, but to try some salt.

I bet. No kidding -- mine (may the rest in peace) always dug out under a cave in my deco....bet that was why. :idea2:
