Hi

I have a bad case of spot algae. I tried to scrap a bit of it off, but boy is it stuck on there. Is there an easy way of getting rid of it? What about putting the tank in a place without any light, say for a week or two. Or what about emptying the tank and letting it sit. There are two platties in there now. My plants and platties would do ok in a bucket for a week or so, right? It is a extreme low maintenance tank. It sits in the sunlight, undoubtly, the source of the spot algae.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

my tank like that seems to grow the spots easily too. I find if I use abit of elbow grease and scrub them off with an algae scrubber pad each week they don't get to out of hand.

but if I let them go they do start to add more faster than if there are only a couple in on the acrylic.

Place in another location, it's small.
Use a credit card, they work great for removal.

That is a great idea! A better use for a credit card would be hard to find.
