Howdy,

I've had two juvi auratus for quite a while ... they've both been that zebra-yellow scheme in terms of color. But all m.auratus are that scheme in the juvi stage, no? Anyway, one of them is starting to fade in the yellow color...the yellow's becoming lighter. Is this one a male undergoing the color change? (2.5")

Might be the onset of a color change or it could be a health issue. Watch it closely to make sure its eating and swimming fine and not being picked on... If its starting to change it should begin to turn very dark black with blue. I think the change usually starts in the face and on the fins if that helps...

Ya, that's I was a tad perplexed...its getting lighter it seems. But, no health problems, that's for sure. The fish is extremely lively and bullies the other fish more than it gets bullied ... water's fine temp/ph/ammonia-wise. Hmm. I'll just keep my eye on it. Thanks.

When my auratus was chaning colors it started to turn black then got its black and blue colors. It sounds like it could be a health problem, stress, or water conditions. Just watch him and make sure he is eating and not getting picked on. I dont know the size of your other fish but auratus are pretty agressive fish I know they used to rule my tank when they were with the smaller fish.
