My Black Peony will only feed by hand. He doesn't seem to touch the plants, like my Common does. I feed them pellets mostly, and some brine shrimp as well. But seriously, the food can go right in front of his mouth and he won't touch it - but I put my hand in the tank, and he goes right for me, always has (when I first got him he wasn't eating at all - the first hand-feeding happened by accident, but it was the first time I'd ever seen him eat, and now of course he's used to it). Is this completely nutty, or have other people heard of this happening? I know about the weakness of telescope eyes ... but surely, this is a little over the top!?

...it is kind of wonderful :o
I just find it awfully weird. I mean, I got him from PetSmart of all places - I'm sure they didn't feed him by hand there. And like I said, until he started hand-feeding, he wasn't eating at all! What's the deal? It really does seem like he just can't see the food. My other goldfish still eats in the normal way - I feed him first by dropping the food into tank, then while he's eating I feed the Peony. But the Peony's never gone for the other goldfish's food...
