Bought Some Tiger Barbs- Help!!!

I have bought a new 55g tank and 5 tiger barbs. They said they do better in groups. How hardy are they? Also how long does it take for them to fully acclimate? Will they do well with my Bala Sharks?

Your bala sharks will eventually outgrow your 55g as you know....

Tiger barbs are nice in a school, you might want to add 2 or 3 more. They are fairly hardy, as I understand, but like all schooling fish are better in a group.

I'd get ridd of the balas and get 1 (only one) ruby/ rainbow shark, and something like a green severum cichlid, or 2 yellow labdichromis to complete your semi-aggressive tank.

A couple of catfish like Hoplo catfish with those, would work too. Just my 2 cents.

Yeah my room is taken up by my aquariums. Even my girlfriend has her tanks in our room. Barely room for our bed lol. Thank gosh we live in a spacious home. Yeah those catfish sound cool. I am looking for some right now. I am placing a call to my friend who raises salt anf freshwater fish of almost all the species you can think.

Tiger barbs seem to be very hardy. I,ve kept mine for years. You might also want to get a couple of cherry, or gold barbs. The cherrys{mine anyway} tend to stay towards the bottom of the tank adding some movement and color. On and don't be surprised by the tigers sleeping vertically with their head down.

yeah I was curious as to what they were doing when the lights were off. They look awesome I love em. They are pretty hardy. Do they mate easy? Have u ever had any mate?
