Has anyone ever seen a shrimp molting??? I'm Curious as to what I just witnessed...
Let ne begin by saying this was strange...
what i witnessed was one of my peppermints climb out of the LR and climb up to the top, to something that resembles a cliff... near there is the flow of the water pump... then the shrimp "jumped" in front of the current and went along with the current.... about 30 mniutes later I witnessed the same thing, but I'm not sure if it was the same shrimp. Anyhow...This second time the shrimp wasn't moving after after it "ride" and got stuck on the LR.... It's still there and It doesnt seem to be moving...

Did my peppermint just commit suicide? or is it molting? or something else?
Does anyone know what i just witnessed??

That is one of the strangest things I've heard. Was it feeding time?

ive never seen my peppermint molt, but i have seen my cleaners molt quite a few times. when they molt, they stick to a rock, and make little jerking movements. after three or four times, the shell breaks open right behind the head, and they pull the head section out of the old shell, then pull the tail section out. looks kinda like watching locust.

I left the shrimp in the water incase it was molting and later that night I saw the other 2 shrimp picking at it, in the more it was gone, and all i See if the other 2 shrimp. what ever happened it was strange.... I'm just going to keep my eyes open...

I had purchased 3 peppermint one day.

When I got them home and acclimated to the tank I let em go into the tank.

The first thing I witnessed was one of them grab ahold of my Yellow tang upside down and "ride" as the tang swam. It soon let go. but was right back up ther in a matter of minutes.

I'm guessing the Tang was fed up from the 1st rider cause when the peppermint grabbed ahold the 2nd time my tang flicked it's tail and the peppermint fell to the substrate...never to move again.
