When i first got my albino cories they were real energetic and swimming about all day, the last 4 or 5 days they have not been doing nothing, they just sit on the bottom, dont move at all unless its feeding time, they used to love messing around in the filter outlet try to beat the current, i havent seem then do that in a loong time, what could be up?

I had a small Nitrite spike but its all good now and has been for a few days, there is a sligh algae problem could that be it ?

Thanks

Do you change your tank around ever? I change mine slightly every couple weeks when I'm cleaning poo and whatnot. My cories are always really active, exploring and basically just acting like the retarded fish they are :D

I find they are much more active after a water change/tank reno. I have too many big plants to completely rearrange, but I move the decorations around and make a few new caves. This also keeps my red-tailed shark from getting too comfy in his territory and it doesn't pick on the corys much.

I normally do waer changes every 2 days but im leaving it for a week as my water has never been clear :S

I also added half a clay pot, still sitting around

At least you can keep them alive. I have bought 6 cories two different times for a total of 12 in my fish keeping time. First I bought 6 panda cories and all but one died and the last one is doing good and has been living for 2 months so I decided to get him some friends. Bought 6 more cories and the same thing, all but one died and now I have 2 cories left. These things are very sensitive fish i guess so be happy yours are alive. By the way every other fish I have stays alive, Cardnials, Neons, Betta, and Ottos are alive in my 55 G but the cories always die.

I think they are really sensitive to ammonia and/or pH changes. The only time I've had one die is when it was first introduced to the tank.

cories retarded??!! Ha!

one of the most important things to do with cories is to make sure they feed properly. Flake food alone falling to the bottom is not enough even as the algae wafers for bottom feeders are not enough. the best dieat is a mix of flakes algae wafers and live worms i usualyy get live worms every two weeks so mix it up, this will lead to better condition.
Also many cories are more active at night or before dawn you may simply be missing the majority of there activity
as for the retarded fish they are comment cories actually will lay false batches of eggs wich the male will never fertilize then they will "hide" the small batch of eggs that are fertilized this behavior is not widely known in the cory species but documented in other cats so they are definitely not retarded

I just say retarded because of the non-chalant way they swim around the tank, even when my Red-tail shark is beating them with his head. They just go about their business, even when I'm mucking around in the tank.

As for feeding, I worry about over-feeding, as they eat everything I put in. Usually before my other fish find the food. They're fat little fish :)

I feed mine Tabimin most of the time, i might get 4 more albino's this weekend :)
