how long can liverock survive out of water after purchasing from LFS? i purchased liverock from a LFS and the store owner said it must be put in my home tank within 3 hours or the rock dies, is this true?

It depends on if its wet. When it dries out the bacertira dies off, the stuff other then bacteria like sponges and corals might depend on how its packaged. The "Rock" doesnt die, the stuff living on it is what dies.
