Can someone give me some advice on how to reduce these in my tank. The are being put out by my hang on tank AquaC Remora skimmer. It uses the Maxi1200 as an intake. The output (waterfall) this thing creats is pretty strong and actually causes an indentation in the sand. I have a 55 Gal tank. It didnt used to do this but for some reason for the past couple weeks its putting them out like crazy. It's been totally cleaned and still nothing. I've evern tried to place a sponge under the flow to try and reduce the power but have no luck. Any suggestions would be much appreciated....

Well it seems the bubbletrap would do the job..only problem is now that I have it, how can I make it fit over the maxijet 1200! Wish they would have told me that before I bought it.

I've got the same set-up as you (55 gal, Remora w/ Maxijet 1200 & the pre-skimmer box). I get the Maxijet to fit in the box by putting it sideways, meaning that there's a 90 degree bend in the connection hose b/w the pump & the skimmer. I can't remember, but I think I had to remove the short length of connection hose that came with the skimmer and put on a slightly longer piece in order to get it to bend without kinking up.

FYI - A tip I got regarding the pre-skim box (which I've done and been happy I did) was to drill a few holes in the back of the box and attach suction cups to it. This makes it very easy to secure to the back of the tank and adjust the height. I don't know if you've tried yet, but the two set screws on the box which "secure" the box to the maxijet are a huge pain and don't work too well. I need to adjust the height of the box every now and then to stay even with the water level in the tank (i.e. evaporation) and screwing with the set screws made it an ordeal when it shouldn't have been.

I believe that if the skimmer is totally clean inside it will cause more bubbles. When the skimmer internals have a little slime build up it traps the bubbles within the skimmer. I have a prism deluxe and when it was new you had to have it turned down so much that there almost was no flow, just so there weren't any bubbles in the tank. Now 3 weeks later I have been able to slowly start turning it up with no bubbles entering the tank.
