Does anyone have experience with Eheim 2260, please?

Hi!
I am considering getting an Eheim 2260 for my 400 gallon tank, but I'm now wondering if it's able to "do the job?"
I got the tank at an auction(lucked out!), and it was equipped with a wet-dry set-up, but for whatever reason was NOT with the tank! I'm trying to be "cost-conscious", but want to get adequate filtration for the tank.
Should I just "scrape-pennies-together" and go back with a wet-dry, or will the Eheim 2260 do the job? Thanks!
PS. If this makes a difference, the tank will house a male Dovii cichlid only. Happy Fish Keeping to All!

A 2260 should be adequate.

But before you decide, perhaps look more closely into wet/drys. You can do a wet/dry setup for less than you will pay for an eheim 2260...

I have had the 2260s in the past and wasnt very happy with them. I cycled my 220gallon tank with 2 of them actually. They had lots of water flow but were a pain to work with. I'm not a fan of "closed" canister filters.

Wet/dry trickle filters have been my favorite. I run one on every tank. Much better oxygenation and MUCH easier to maintain. Plus you can hide your heaters in it. I also leave a few net bags of gravel in them to use to cycle other tanks in a hurry.

Hi!
Thanks for the reply! Wow, 2-2260's for a 220 gallon tank! I get the STRONG feeling that a single 2260 is NOT EVEN CLOSE to being adequate for a 400!! Again, THANKS VERY MUCH for your input, Aikidoguy!! Time to start saving up for that wet-dry!
