My sis went to Japan to visit my uncle. He's got a backyard pond with tons of Koi in there. They are easily 2' + and the oldest one is 26 years old. They get fed dogfood. I'll try to make the pics bigger

Yeah koi are amazing when they get that big. My city has a public Koi Pond/Banzai Garden. The pond is about 20000Gal. or something, basically 100ft in Diameter and 2-10 feet deep. It has a few koi that are nearly 3' long and they are abcolutely amazing. They actually look more like big Carp now as opposed to Koi. I will go there and take some photos and post them as soon as it re-opens for spring.

There are several koi that have been released in one of the in-town lakes. They are amazing--2 feet, at least. Just huge. I go canoeing, and you can slide up on them sometimes. Just more proof that they can survive cold weather--the lake freezes over at least a couple time a winter, and is one of the more popular in-town ice fishing places!

A few years ago, there was an article in TFH that said that there was a koi that lived to be over 200 years old. :o

For some reason, I don't want a pet that will outlive me... Call me jealous, I guess. ;)

Jealous...

Do you want to live to be 200? I hate to think what I'd look like at 60, let alone 200. :D
