I dont know this Fish keeper lingo so if i sound werid just pretend that i'm learning english. Ok so I got a 10 gallon tank. I'm going to put 2 dwarf frogs in there.
so what else can i put in there besides 2 dwarf frogs?
Also what is a live rock? :thud: can a rock really live?
should i do
10g
4 dwarf frogs?
But i want fish and i know nothing about ph levels.
I remove everything from the tank when i clean it and rinse the rocks until clean and then put stuff back in.
How about a turtle?
in my 1.66 gallon hex can i put a betta?

There are a number of fish that will work with dwarf frogs--the primary concern is you want to be sure the frogs aren't out-competed for food by the fish. Read Leopardesses excellent article in the articles forum for more.
Live rock: What you see at the LFS is meant for marine systems, so won't work with the frogs. But, the reason it's called 'live' is that it has a colony of living bacteria (nitrifiers), as well as a complement of desirable living organisms, varying from corals and algaes to crustaceans and bi-valves. The concept is valid for FW, but so far remains unpopular with stores--mostly because there aren't as many desirable encrusting organisms for FW, I think.
You'll need to get a test kit to track the nitrogen cycle in addition to water chemistry. pH is good to know, but not crucial to fish survival if it's stable.
Is there a filter on this tank? If not, you should add one. The frogs are just as susceptible to toxins like ammonia and nitrites as fish (through their skin rather than through gills), so a filter that houses the beneficial bacteria is a good thing. Completely rinse the rocks is not a good idea, since this removes the good bacteria. Just using a siphon to pull up the solid wastes and some water is better.
Turtles all get too large for a 10G--you can't legally purchase those smaller than 4 inches. And, all will eat small frogs and fish.
A 1.66 is pretty small--is there a filter for it? They make Azoo filters for very small tanks, and this would allow you to keep a betta. But--small tanks are hard to stabilize, and it would need daily attention.

I run an All-Glass 5 gallon with an AquaClear Mini. Stock includes live plants, various kinds of shrimp, snails, and a few guppies. It was the easiest thing I've ever set up in my life and I've never had a problem with it being dirty or any fish being sick. You can get the AC Mini for like $11.99 + shipping on www.bigalsonline.com and the All-Glass 5 gallon tank, light, and hood is like $29.95 brand new at your local LFS, but I'm sure you find one online as well.

OHHH for once I know a lil bit about this from all my research because I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I'm starting a 10gal. I have my Betta as my "prize piece" or show piece then I'm getting 4 neon tetras. Also Rainbow tetras are very colorful in a small bunch of BIG bunch but the 10 gal doesn't allow good room for a big bunch so I feel no more then 4 unless you want just those. Also Fancy Tail guppies are very pretty but a lot of people don't recommend them with a betta. So if no Betta get FANCY TAIL GUPPIES! they are very pretty.
ummmm yah....... that's all I can really think that is "pretty" fish colors for a 10 gal. With Bigger tanks there is more variety. But from what I get too many colorful fish could also just look tacky.
I hope this was helpful even though I'm just a newbie myself

Yeah, you shouldn't do this. You need to buy a gravel vac, just clean the gravel using it and it won't upset the balance in your tank.

I used to clean my tank completely too. I found out the hard way that by doing this I was putting my fish through awful stress and ruining the cycle that is necessary for a healthy tank. Read the Cycle sticky. It is very important if you don't want to kill your fish and frogs!

Congo Tetras are a very pretty freshwater fish and are not expensive. They have a pearl white body with lots of reflecting colors
