I am considering getting a 125G or 150G tank but am wondering what would be a good price. I live in a rural area so I dont have alot of pet shops near by to price from. The last PetCo i went into had a 125G kit that included a stand gravel and some average filters for $995. Is that a pretty good price? Whatever I by would need to have a stand with it and I know thay can jack up the price.

I can get a 150 gallon here 459.00 for tank, 189.00 for nice looking stand. The tank is a Top Fin which i think is made by All-Glass.

a lot of aquaria stuff is way expensive here in the states, other stuff is a lot less expensive I think its a matter of the shipping costs being jacked up on some of it.

I totally agree with this!! My lfs know I will pay if I want it. It sucks!! My latest tank cost me around AU$700 it is 187litres came with gravel, filter, ornaments, stand, hood, heater etc. Everything I need!

The key here in the states is finding a lfs that seems a bit slow, business wise. Usually you can talk the owner down...they want to move tanks.

Fish is a different story of course...for fish I'll pay a premium for solid, healthy stock.

Try ebay. They have a function that allows you to sort by "distance, nearest first" One of the advantages is that you may be able to get a complete ( or nearly) setup ,not of products thrown together, but a working system. Depending on where you live, is it worth driving a 100 miles or so to save several hundred $?

You can try looking here: http://www.glasscages.com/?sAction=ViewCat&lCatID=2

I haven't bought from this guy personally, but have heard good things about his tanks. Of course, you'll have to pay shipping for whatever you buy from him, unless he happens to be visiting any fish/reptile shows near you.

Just bought a 125 gallon acrylic at my LFS last week. Tank, hood with fixtures, and stand was $733 out the door. Went with the black wood stand. I've got a black wood canopy on order...should be around $100.

Keep your eyes peeled for people getting rid of tanks. We have an online service called Freecyle. I scored on this tank for $180.00. It came with the stand, lid and lights, rocks, 2 Penguin 400's, and 2 250 watt heaters. What a steal!!!
