Well, I gave up trying to deal with my very hard water and very high PH. The water in my neighborhood is extremely hard, the water company says harder than most people have. So I though a combo of 70 percent RO water and 30 percent tap water would be about right. Once I have RO water in my tank, will my PH lower on it's own or do I need to add something? I would like to get my PH down to at least 7.5 or 8.0 From reading tons of articles and about it in books the "adapt your fish not your water" thing some recommend here is only true to a very small point, after that it is nonsense. I was beyond that point with water as bad as mine. Kinda like saying a human is going to adapt to a constant 120 degree temperature. You might live but your not going to be very happy or healthy. Ever since I moved into this neighborhood my fish loss rate has gone up a lot, even with tons of filtration and weekly water changes. I don't think fish like swimming in liquid rock.
