In your home and what would you change about what you see?

When I look out my back window I think about all the stuff I want to do in my backyard:

Covered porch, swimming pool, privacy fence, all concrete items. When I look out my front window I see the side yard that needs to be finished. I need to write a paper on what I see that I want changed and I am having a hard time seeing past the yard work and the concrete things I want to do......I think that makes me feel a bit old. When I was younger I could think more in abstract terms...........How about everybody else?

I'd like to see the beach again, I miss that about moving to Michigan. Right now I am by wooded areas with snow falling down. Some people like this, find it relaxing, etc etc. I look at it and become depressed unless I can say "hey - it'll be warmer soon". I dislike the clouds, bad weather, etc.

So - bring on the beach!

Actually a little straight snow might be a nice idea for a change, we've gotten freezing rain, sleet, yuck..... our weather has been reallly nutty here 18 degrees one day, 50 degrees the next...............yep just about everybody in the house has a cold because of it.

When I look out my window I see my neighbor's condo and right into his enormous saltwater aquarium. I've never spoken to him, so I am not sure how many gallons it is, unfortunately, but I can see a reef system in it. Makes my 3 10 gallons look very inadequate... I'd like to change that! :o

...any morning, any evening any dayyyyyy. Mabey the sun is shining' birds are wingin' no rain is fallin from a heavy skyyyyyy. What do you want ME to do? Hey GEL mabey a box of rain could ease your pain, and love can see you thru?
I've got a brick smoker in my back yard that I'd like to redo. Its about 70 years old and needs a makeover. Its big enough to cook a medium sized pig. I want to use it this summer, stuff a pig with a turkey stuffed with some game hens and cook it slowly for a few days. Mabey even an apple in the mouth? Too bad I'd have to dig 5 feet of snow to start work though.

GEL - Maryland is known for those extreme temp shifts, lack of rain/snow, then outbursts of it. And in Michigan, we get everything! I guess it's just the old saying "the grass is greener on the other side".

... in my case, it was!

(at this point, I'd just like to know that my lawn does indeed exist) :D

Here's a snap taken of the southern edge of my property just minutes ago...

This photo just doesn't do justice (taken on a cheap webcam), the flakes are big fat ones and the wind is ferocious.

Such a long long time to be gone, and a short time toooo be there.... Anyone else got this song stuck in thier head because of this post? GEL, I find it discouraging that YOU feel old. You seem to be quite young at heart, to heck with what your birth cert. says. I don't think it would be too hard (if you applied yourself) for you to see that swimming pool as a large outdoor, scuba sized community tank!!!!

In your home and what would you change about what you see?.....Backyard -- nice large, deep pond would be nice. The hurricane(s) damaged fence still needs to be fixed.

I live in a highrise apartment building downtown, and when I look out my window I can see a great deal of the city. To the left is a fairly affluent neighborhood with big houses and fancy cars. There are train tracks just right of centre, and to the right lies a neighborhood of lower middle class 'working joe' houses. In a nearby block in this neighborhood, a little girl was kidnapped and murdered some time ago. Soon after, someone attempted to abduct another child at our local grocery store. Ever since, the view from my window hasn't been the same to me.
On the May 24 and July 1st holidays people set fireworks off in their backyards with their kids, and until this tragedy, we used to stand in our window and enjoy them. Now it makes me sad knowing that one of those families has lost their child and most of the neighborhood seems to have forgotten what happened.
Looking out my window, I wish my neighborhood felt safe like it did when we moved in. That's what I'd change.

In your home and what would you change about what you see?

Well, not much of the property I see outside of my windows is mine, so there's not much I can do to it; with the exception of the bathroom window, out of which I see the balcony and fire escape. I'd change the flooring (right now it's just sheet metal), I'd change the furniture I have out there (right now there's an ugly table we got from our roomate's parents' cafe; and four mismatched, torn chairs), and I'd ask permission to use the empty wooden storage box that's already there (to hold garbage bags, and a compost container).

But I'd wish for the return of tree, which used to be outside our bedroom window, but last week was cut down.

Such a long long time to be gone, and a short time toooo be there....

I always thought that "Box of Rain" would make an excellent name for a LFS.

Thank god I'm not the only one who saw that....... wow if I start a fishy store, you mind if I use it? I'll give you credit for the name and a 72% discount.

A 72% discount sounds nice, but I don't think it would cover the gas I'd need fot the trip. ;)

When I look outside, I see all the PLANTING we have planned for this spring and summer.... and i'd give anything to start right now!

We moved into our new house about 18 months ago from our old house, which was in an established neighborhood with huge trees, tons of privacy, and two large decks. Our new house is only 3 years old and the previous owners never got around to putting a deck or patio on the place before they got relocated... In November, we had a 15' x 35' colored concrete patio poured with a decorative stamped edge on it... it's GORGEOUS! ...and now for the plantings... A stand of aspen to block the view of the neighbors trampoline. Pampas grasses to block the neighbors view of us partying on the new patio. ;) Iris bulbs a-plenty around the edges of the patio. Not to mention the vegetable garden, which I started planning for before the last tomato was picked last fall... Every now and then, my husbands MTS gets the better of him and he talks about a pond being near the edge of the patio, half above ground, half below ground, so that one could use the edge of the pond as seating from the patio and gaze at the lovely goldfishies swimming about......

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go purchase some lotto tickets.....

Hey, DD, nice camera. :D I think a polarizing filter might be a good purchase, assuming you can get one to fit that point'n'shoot.

Sigh, I wish I had a house and yard already. Those views made me think of home.

Let's see what I can see from the office...

Nothin', no windows, no natural light. Thank-goodness my honey went "while you were out" on the office when I was at sea a couple summers ago or I'd've gone nuts living in my cave.

I'd bulldoze my trashy neighbors to the south, and put in a loverly fountain.

I have my own laundry list of work to be done, but their house is just a mess. Needs to be painted, nothing but dirt in the front and back yard, and the trash needs to be removed--including a couch, a treadmill, and assorted other appliances. Sigh.

What would I change that I could? I would replace the wall at the back of my very, very small yard. Da*n hornets nest in it. I'm almost afraid to let my kids play basketball cuz the hornets come out and sting us.

Front window, to get rid of all the bushes in my front yard. That my husband would actually clean all of that stuff out of there. Other than that, I like it.

My dream? To look out and see a new yard, from a new house! Like the neighborhood, but hate this house!

;)
