I have a snail in my 5 1/2 gallon tank,4 small neon and 2 small guppys, woke up this morning and one of the guppies about 2 inches has disappeared .The snail is pretty big ,bigger than the fish .Could the snail have eaten it ?

No live fish will hold still while a snail slowly rasps it to death. If a snail ate a fish, the fish was dead before it started to dine. Snails will clean-up pretty much anything including dead fish, but the snail could not have been the cause of death.

My friend's sister had a 30 gal with one common pleco and one snail and she woke up one morning to find a dead pleco with the snail sucking his brains out LITERALLY it was clasped to his head. She was so upset her Fiancee had to do the clean up and she couldn't bear to keep what she THOUGHT was a murderous snail.

Just thought it was an interesting story somewhere along this topic. He was a about a 5" pleco but that snail was a hefty 2" itself
