just wopndering.
will a smaller tank be better for plants than a big tank?
for example putting plants in a 2.5 gallon with 10 watt light as compared to putting it in a 5 gallon with 10 watt light?
whats the difference if you put them in a smaller tank compared to a bigger tank?

More wattage per gallon usually indicates more nutrients and carbon dioxide required. Money-wise, it's cheaper to get more wattage over a small tank than a large one, but if you don't also have a source of CO2 and increased fertilizers, it can get messy.

Also, you have to think differently about aquascaping a very small than you do 'scaping a larger tank. Small, brightly-lit tanks require smaller plants, etc.

Np. Hth. :D

Also, it seems I have been owned by the Caps-Lock filter. Lovely.

if you are just wanting to gain exp growing plants a tank that isn't deep but has lots of area would be good to play with. if I was just playing with getting plants to grow a 40 long would be just about my pick of a tank to deal with.

48x13x16

the depth means I can get away with moderate light and grow most things and means its not so hard to reach the bottom for fiddleing with the plants.

but astheticly I would pick some other tank to try to create a aquascape in.

The watts per gallon rule gets thrown out the window on tanks below 20g and tanks above 75g. In both cases you need more than what the wpg rule would tell you.
