alge on my plants

i just started a new tank and i had a 29 before it. i now have a 60 gallon and i tranfered the old plants in to the new tank and now its been about 5 days and there are now brown spots on some of the leaves and they are getting bigger. i am also using phosguard to prevent alge from growing but it still is. i have a 1500k light. also my tank is next to a window but i keep the blinds closed all day. its only on the plants not the tank. any suggestions

Brown usually indicates diatoms, a fairly common occurance in new tanks. Thankfully it is also temporary in most cases. It should go away in a few weeks. I have heard that oto's eat diatoms but I have no first hand experience of this.
