thanks for all of your help

1. How big is your tank

2. How much light do you have. How many watts?

3. What are your nitrates, nitrites, ammonia, ph, GH/KH, etc.......

4. Do you overfeed?

5. Is their any direct sunlight hitting your tank?

6. How many hours a day do you leave your lights on?

That may help us determine your problem...........

its a 60 gallon i have a pc light with 6700k, 65 watt. i dont know how many hours they are on but i turn them on when i wake up and off when i go to bed. the tank is next to a window but the blinds are closed all day so there is no sunlight on the tank. dont over feed. nitrites at 0 ammonia at 0 dont know ph or nitrates. is that enough info?

That great, but try keeping your lights on for no more then 10-11 hours a day. Although you dont have much light, the length can cause algae. Also, do some water changes every other day for a while and remove as many infected leafs as possible. Im actually a bit surprised as too why you have so much algae....

Maybe your plants arent out competing your algae. Are you fertilizing at all or adding any iron, nitrates, etc?

Oh one other thing, have you checked your phosphates?

Edit: sorry just realized this, but one possibilty may be that you have too little nitrates. In a planted tank, you should be somewhere in the range of 5 ppm of Nitrates.

How many plants do you have, is the tank heavily planted?

would fertilizing also fertilize the alge,

would fertilizing also fertilize the alge,

If overdone, yes. You should always does half the instructins on the bottle when you first begin fertilizing and then watch and see how the plants do.......

Are you overfeeding your fish?
