i recently added 4 cichlids to my tank, i did it gradually with one fish evrey 3days. ever since i added my last fish my auratus went from beautifull yellow stripes to a dull gray, the body of the black hasnt changed tho. any sugestions why? i have never in my time of owning auratus`s witnessed this. :(

The dominant ones I have heard will do that aswell as if they are going into courtship faze. But dont worry as they may actually turn to a beautiful pale blue colour. However if this is the case they also become extremely aggressive and your other fish may be on the to kill list of your auratus very soon.

Anybody please feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

Adding one fish every three days did not give your tank anywhere near enough time to adjust. Every time you increase the fish load it takes the tank anywhere from 7 to 10 days to balance itself. You had the right idea but the wrong time frame. Having said that, your tank is big enough that you probably could have added 2 at a time and been OK.

You may see some trouble in the future.

Auratus, Bumblebee (Crabo) and Psuedotropheus Zebras are some of the most aggressive cichlids around.

yes, the shrimp is amazinly alive. and i know that the auratus, bumblebee and zebras are very aggressive, thats why i wanted them; i wanted a challenge. and thats the last time i listen to a petsmart aquarium guy, he said 3 days is plenty of time... and oddly enough, the most aggressive fish in my tank is a 2inch jewel...
