Hi All,

got home last night and one of my Amano Shrimps was not looking to happy aty all. It was holding onto the bottom of a drift wood cave i have made and when I fed the fish it didn't come out and feed like it's mate, when it tries to move or walk it tends to fall over onto it's side.
Anyone know what is wrong with it?
Is it going to hurt my fish if it's ill?

What's the alkalinity (KH) on your tank? Sounds like it's trying to molt, and very soft water can be a problem. Adding a bit of iodine will also help--iodine is available as a reef supplement, but works in FW for shrimp as well.

It's pretty high (can't remeber but will check tonight). I live in an are of UK where the GH is as high as 200ppm out of the tap. KH on my Hagen test kit falls into to the ideal buffer range (according to the back of the test booklet)

he/she has turned a little darker in colour aswell but i didn't know if that was just because it was clinging onto a dark section of the wood.

thanks for you help so far
