i've never had java moss before and i just recently put some in my tanks. it's been in there for alittle over a week and now they have like white hairs on them. is this just new growth or is it something else? thanks in advance.

Is it white? Chances are that it is hair alage.

first of all DUDE if you would've read my first post you would have seen that I said it was white and you wouldn't have asked that question. but thanks for the help anyway.

Java moss is really hardy, but has a tendency to collect just about everything like velcro... You may get little algae growth on it that will turn it different colors, but once your tank parameters are set, the Java moss should outcompete the algae and it'll be gone.
It's also good for attaching to driftwood, rocks, or decorations- It grows fairly quickly, and some fish will even graze on it.

Whatever. My Java Moss is on some driftwood and is growing fine.
