I am looking for formulas on how to make plant fertilizers. The plants that I have are:

Amazon sword
Bacopa
Rotallia
Red Ludwiga

I am looking for something with a lot of iron in it for the swords.

I would like to make a DIY fertilizer mix from raw minerals. Is iron sold in retail stores? I can order the materials online, but the web site has to take a check or money order. I don't have a credit card (and will always avoid the interest rates!) so I can't order from some places.

The web site posted by Karanaaj a while ago seemed really great, but they only had online ordering. I tried to email them but their contact page didn't seem to be working right. I clicked the link for "contact us" and it said refer a friend. So there seems to be something wrong with their web site and there isn't a link to email them. But I would still be interested in ordering there if they accept a check. The web site was made by Greg something or other.

Basically I am looking for any DIY fertilizers that might work with the plants above and where I can get the materials to try them out. Thanks for the help.

http://www.gregwatson.com/ He sells all kinds of stuff. KNO3 and KH2PO4 and for traces you can use CMS+B. If you want to dose more iron you can buy Iron Chelate Sequestrene 10% and mix your own solution. Great prices and a good guy.

EDIT: Oh, he even now has CMS+B wit extra Iron, Spiffy.

I have been there but do you have his email? I was trying to email him but it seems there is a problem with his web site. When you click email Greg it goes to a page that says:

Let your friends know all about the great deals that are on offer at this site. Just fill in the details below and click "Send".

I want to email him, not tell my friends ;-) I need to ask him about taking a check or money order. His web site only takes credit cards.

I sent something through there anyway but I didn't hear from him in about 3 days.

Umm, yeah, Did you happen to notice that it asks for your name and your email address and then gives a field for comments, meaning:
Type in your name
Type in your email addy
Ask about check or money order
Click send.
The part about letting your friends know is just asking you to let them know. I just tested it, it works fine.

Yes I have sent him an email through that but I haven't heard back in three or four days. So I'm wondering if its working right.

Most people will tell you that I often reply within hours <grin> ...

On my website, I have an Email Greg form that allows you to email me ... the good part about this is that it helps keep the spam harvesters from finding my email address ... the bad part, is the at least a couple times a week, I get an "email" message where there is a typo in the email address someone enters for their address ...

I'm pretty good at guessing ... but sometimes I can't guess ...

If you haven't heard from me by the next morning, it probably means I wasn't able to reply <grin> ...

So please try again ...

Thanks,
Greg

For years I always dosed extra Iron a couple times a month ... so I thought I'd give this one a try ... I've been dosing with this "extra Iron" for almost 10 months now ... It's a cheaper alternative than buying Iron chelate or a commercial liquid Iron ... but I think *personally* I just prefer to dose things separately "as I feel I need it" ...

So while its probably a better "value" for most people, I still like to dose everything separately <grin> ... I'm probably *personally* going to switch back to regular Plantex CSM+B in a couple months ...
