I have a question about the color of the fins of a betta. When I got my betta last week, it had red fins with blue strips in them, but over the week I have noticed that his fin colors have changed a bit, the blue in the fins have become more dominate in the fins, is this normal?

It probably was stressed when you got it. It just took it's time to develop its true colours.
I just purchased 2 bettas today.
One was a greenish yellow colour, just over the past couple hours he has developped a royal blue colour at the base of all his fins. Everytime I check on him he gets more and more blue. Fun to watch :)
Don't be too concerned. He'll probably change a little more then stay the same for a while.

You'd be surprised at how much a bettas color can change once they get from a stressed environment to happy one. That fish you bought that you thought was a pale pastel blue/green can darken right up to a very dark royal, steel or even emerald green !

Here's a pic of one fish that shows the color changes illness and stress can cause in a betta....these two pics are of the same fish..one pic..he's nice and healthy...the other is just before he died of dropsy..
