I ordered some plants from online and when I received them, there were a couple dozen little shrimp looking bugs swimming/darting around in the temp tank where I put the plants. Anybody know what these are?? I've searched all over online and I can't find them. They're gray and some are smaller than others but all are tiny.

I didn't even think to take one, to be honest. I emailed the plant company and they said they are "GAMORRISONS". I did a search on those and brought back nothing. I assumed they'd know what they are. :) Even if I try to take a pic, I'm sure I couldn't get a clear one. The're really small and very active. I was hoping they were common and someone might have some clue what they are.

maybe they are Gammarus? in that case im pretty sure they are like brime shrimp since they sell them as fish food.

oh yes! That looks just like them!! Thank you :) I didn't want to introduce an unknown entity into my tank. Maybe I'll toss one in and see if my rams chow down. :)

Those lil' guys don't last long once hungry tropical fish become involved. I wouldn't worry about them.

Couple of tidbits about amphipods (which your gammarus is)

When they swim they invariably roll over on their sides…. Amphipods are much more active at night than during the day. They are “microbial ferries” – almost always carrying a brood of miscellaneous protists on their external body surfaces.

You got free fish food. They even sell them online now on pet shrimp sites for a lot of money. I'd say it was a nice surprise. :dance
