Ok I set up my CO2 system tonight and wont really be able to take readings until tomorrow. So tonight for the few hours the lights are on is a test run. I have a 10# CO2 tank with a JBJ reg built in bubble counter. I drilled a small hole in the strainer on my magnum 350 and inserted the CO2 tubing into the strainer. The bubbles are being sucked into the filter. I looked at the actual canister the bubbles are very small by the time they get there and there are no visible bubbles coming out of the filter when it enters the tank. So looks like that is working well. Tomorrow I will take a PH reading and figure out my CO2 levels. The starting point is 9.0 KH and 8.0 PH. I am slowly increasing the amount of RO water in the tank when I do water changes until I get it to a KH of 5.0. It is a 90 gallon. By the way all of this would not have been possible if not for these forums. I have learned so much thanks to all of the people here. Has anyone ever used a custom flow kit?

How is the new set-up going? I just set up a 90 and just starting to look into CO2 systems. I am concerned about running the CO2 into the filter. I have read some posts saying that has caused problems, but I like the idea of not having extra equipment in the tank. Any insight would be great.

It is going ok. I am going to build an external reactor instead of using the filter. The filter is working fine, but I think the reactor will work better. I have to order a PH test. Mine goes in increments of .5 so it is not very accurate. I also am expecting a plant shipment next week, to fill out my tank. Right now I am having some algae issues but I am hoping that the addition of more plants will starve the algae into submission. The best insight I can offer is to read read and read. The more posts you can read and research you can do the better. Good luck with your 90.
