Most cost effective way to drop PH (and others) permanently?

I would like to attempt to breed my pair of German Blue Rams, but I’m fairly certain my current water parameters will not allow it.

My current test kit does not measure for KH, GH or TDS so I have no idea where I sit on that right now, buy my PH levels are in the 7.5 range.

Assuming all my levels are off (and I’ll get a kit to verify soon enough) what would be the most cost effective way to drop my ph enough to hold steady in the 6.5 range, KH around 7.5, GH about 9 and TDS around 100?

Thanks

We really need to know your Kh values before we can give advice on what you need to do.

In the meantime then, what would be the best (with cost consideration) test kit to pickup that would measure all the tests I need?

I have only been able to find the Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Master Kit locally so I bought that any other master kit I’d have to purchase online… Although I may be able to find the test kits individually.

my LFS recommended adding some peat to my filter to lower my PH. also adding some bogwood will help reduce the PH. i've no idea how long it takes either method to have an effect though

Thank you both for the feedback. I'll take a look when I get back tonight or tomorrow and see if I can locate the AP KH and GH kit so hopefully that'll work.

Thanks for the feedback on the peat and bogwood as well, my only concern there was that the water coming in during water changes wouldn't match up... Is that a legit concern?

I'll use the search as well and also post my test results when I get them.

An RO water filter is the best way to go. Lowering PH with Peat or chemicals is a never ending battle. My water went from terrible to textbook perfect in 2 days after making water changes with RO water.

My blue rams have been breeding and my PH is 8.0. the first batch they had I didn't even know was in the tank until they were about a week or two old. I found them in the morning just before I had to go to work...when I came home..no more babies...mom and dad or the gouramis must have eaten them.

Well, this pair of rams went and bred again the very next day. I took the rock out that the eggs were on and put them in my 15 gallon quarenteen tank and they are now about a week and a half old and seem to be doing fine.

That same pair of rams are getting ready for another spawn...I see the signs...lol....someone tell me how to make them stop !!!
