I was thinking about setting up a betta/catfish tank -perhaps a 55 gallon-. Is this a good idea¿ I was thinking about 1 male with about 5 females, plenty of plants, and a few catfish -besides the redtails-. What kind of catfish should I use¿ What are some other fish that are compatible with both catfish and betta¿

in a 55, you probably not have enough room for more than a couple catfish (unless they are all cories or plecos or banjos) and if you have bettas in there as well you may not want any thing else... but im going with the assumption that you want a catfish like a channel cat (too big for a 55 when full grown) or a pictus. other than that ive never heard of a catfish/betta combination, it would probley be a cool tank if it works
good luck :)

My pictus tried to eat my beta, So they may not be a good combo.

<--Just look how evil he is :D

how big is your pictus?! mine only went after my neons (not a good tank mate with pictus :D) maybe mine was just docile...

Well right now in my 10, I tried setting up a Betta/Cory/Paradise fish tank...it didn't work, so I moved my bettas into their bowls :sad , and kept the Paradise fish in with the corys. I am not liking the paradise fish much -they attack even ones of their own species.. not cool-, so I am thinking on moving the corys and bettas into a bigger tank, and leaving the paradise fish in the 10 by themselves. I wasn't thinking about HUGE catfish, just ones that are around the 4''-14'' area, and not big enough to swallow a betta. A little off topic, are livebearers good with bettas¿ A friend of mine has a musquito fish that breeds like a rat, and I was wondering if one would make a good betta companion.
