Hello-

I have a 55 gallon tank (saltwater) that my uncle gave me. It is completely empty and dry now and it has a white scum/cloudiness on the glass that I cant get off  . I want to set this tank up, but I don’t know if it is worth it because of the ‘scum’ My goal is saltwater, DSB, LR.

DOES anyone have any idea about
1. how to get it off
2. should I not worry about it and go ahead and set up the tank

Thank you for the time…

If you're up for it, I think you could probably get it off using hot water, and then some vinegar. Most likely its some sort of calcium buildup. Srub away with a clean sponge or pad, but make SURE that it's new and does not come with any sort of detergent on it. HTH

 Well i tried the vinegar trick, but there is still scum on the tank. But, i noticed that when the tank was wet, i didnt notice the scum, it only showed up when the tank was dry. SO, does this mean that the scum will not be visible when i fill it with salt water?
