Kribensis, I know they are dwarf cichlid or what not. I also have read alot about their passive nature.
I have a 29 gallon with 5 Kribensis and 1 koi. I use to have this one fat goldfish in there, but I think they were nippin at his eyes. I did see the koi mess with the goldfish a bit. Are koi agressive towards goldfish? or Was it the Kribensis who were agressive? I never caught anyone in the act.
Any suggestions?

Also what fish can i keep in the tank with Kribensis?
Should I take the koi out?

thanks,

Justin

Kribs can be pushy, but not normally that bad, except when breeding. I personally wouldn't suspect the kribs.

I'd suspect the koi, I'd also put the koi in a much larger tank, even better a pond. It can grow almost 4 feet long, and unlike the kribs wants cooler water. If the goldfish was fancy i.e. it had a fat body and double tail I suspect the koi even more. Fancy Goldfish should really only be kept with other fancy goldfish, because they really can't defend themselves at all if harassed. I've seen plenty of fancy goldfish get bullied by slimmer comet types.

As far as other tankmates, schooling fish that stay in the upper part of the tank would probably do best with kribs. They will keep the kribs a bit calmer, and most of the time as long as a fish stays out of the kribs way, nothing will happen to it.

Just a note: in your sig you said 5 dwarf south american cichlids, Kribs are West African rivertine fish. Close to the same water conditions but different continent. :)

Thanks a lot. I fixed my sig(see?)
heh heh, I didn't realize i typed south american instead of african.. whops.
I moved my goldfish to a tank by himself.
