Tanks at work

Not sure if you read my "new tank" post, but I currently have a 10 on my desk that is mine, ALL MINE I SAY!! I have 6 danios and an algae eater. I had some small cons in there b4 but traded them when they had kids. Everyone here knows I'm a fishyfreak, but they like to watch my tank when it's slow. I just got a 60 gal 4free and my boss ok'd me putting it in here. She is even considering taking $250 from the budget to get it going, and will pitch in a few bucks a month for food. As long as it's still my tank and my responsibility(buy my own fish, come in on my day off to clean it and such).

I have a 5. It's had a variety of occupants, been up in one form or another for about 5 years now. I got permission before bringing it in, and have never had any complaints from anyone about it. Takes 10 minutes to clean, and the secretary feeds while I'm away. For a while, the office talked about setting up a big tank, but we could never find space for it.

i have a 10 gallon sitting right next to me on my desk, it has no fish nor plants, just gravel, filter, heater, light. im eventually gonna put some java moss and breed guppies as feeders.

Oddly enough, I've never had a problem with the tank at work. It's inside a hutch, so most people walk right by it without even seeing it.

I have an Eclipse 3 gallon tank with a Betta in it on my desk at work. My clients love it and my co-workers think that I am a freak . Cool... Plus it is a peaceful and serene thing to have on your desk. I often just stop and look into...

Just started a Aqua-Tech 5 (Which is really an Eclipse System 6 with one fewer gallon and about $40 cheaper at Wal-Mart than Petco. Exactly the same, just a bit shorter tank... anyway...) with a co-worker's betta from a fishbowl.

He had gone through 2 other fish cycling the fish bowl. It had no filtration and irregular water changes. I told him about this inexpensive "Eclipse" and he agreed to go halfsies with me on the new tank. (I hated seeing this poor little guy in this algae bloomed bowl.) So I set up the tank, transferred the gravel, decorations and fish with the essential bacteria, and now the bio-wheel has taken over and the results are as follows...

Ammonia = 0ppm
Nitrites = 0ppm
Nitrates = ~7ppm

Not too bad for my first tank in 15 years, all thanks to research here on AC.

The betta almost immediately was far more active and his color has gotten better every day since the tank was established.

So now my co-worker feeds him to my specifications and he can enjoy the fish, while I get to feed my fish habit at work and maintain the tank.

Not too bad a deal...

I have a 5g tank with a clear divider in the middle with a male and female betta on either side. They color up and display for each other and come up to the front when I come in the office. Many people come by to look at the fish and they think about setting up a tank for themselves. It helps me relax when I get stressed out!

Working in a fish store and all.. I have little over 50 of them. :thud:
