Base Rocks

Would these be suitable for base rocks for a reef?

If so, how much base rock do I add compared to live rock? half and half or say 1/3 base and 2/3 live or what?

They would work but it will be a while before you have any life on them...

Thanks. I realize that it will be some time before anything grows on them, but I'm on a very tight budget with this project and want to save as much as possible.

I assume that the more live rock I add the faster it will add life to the base rocks. Is there a minimum of live rocks pet gallon I should have for filtration purposes? I'll be using a DSB and will have no fish until everything is very stabalized (several months).

Also, should I do anything to these rocks before using them? Wash them good and boil them maybe?
