I decided to get a master test kit, and went with the "tetra test laborette" (whihc didnt have a no3 test, so i had to buy that seperate). It was 20 bucks and works just fine, but most of the tests require the use of 2 or 3 liquids, and letting it sit for 10-20 minutes. the no3 test even has zinc powder you have to add. I guess this is why dip-stick tests are so expensive. Anyway, are all master test kits like this, or are there any better/easier ones?

those types of tests are the best ones- any test kit that you see where you put liquid on a test strip and it changes color is innacurate- the test you have now is much better than many of the other ones out there, and you dont want to give up accuracy for convenience....

ah, i never thaught about that. I guess i made a good buy then. Although, i find the amonia test frustrating. I cant really match the color well, because it doesnt really look like any of the colors on the card. its a very light green, which is good, since lighter green = less amonia, but it doesnt really look like the greens on the card :p

I currently use the Hagen Master Test Kit. I liked it because it came with a handy carrying case. The test kits themselves are decent, but I wouldn;t trust the Phosphate or Iron tests too much. Still, for all the basics, it works well. I'll likely try the Aquarium Pharmaceuticals Master test kit when I am next in need of one.
