Found this from another site from these guys here for 5 bucks a pop and very cheap shipping. It's seems good for a lazy DIYfer(me) I'm thinking 2 of these in my 2 ft 40g tank and 3 for my 48" tank downstairs..... it seems a little bright from the look of the picture but maybe if I use a variable power supply I can dim it to my liking? There's a 24bulbs and a 3bulbs version... 3bulbs is probably best match....

There are also these other ones they is probably good too since it's screw on type vs. stick on as the above... and they comes 2 to a set.

I found that using a cold cathod light kit from a computer works great for moonights. I had a set that I was using for my computer and put them on my computer and all of my fish/inverts love it...plus it makes a good nightlight so you don't kill yourself in the middle of the night.

I find the CRT to be a little over powering... besides LED last forever.

Has anyone dd a comparison with the LED and CRT side by side? The CRT would be just as easy

Might be a little cheaper as well. My cold cathode kit cost me $20. Does the price you find include a power supply and everything you need? Just curious. Might use those on my next setup if that is all it will cost.

I'm sure everyone have a power supply or two laying around... In my case I probably have 10 or more 12V power supplies sitting around..... I'm gonna order 2 of the oval ones and see what happens.

I just recieved my cold cathodes and tried to hook them up to several different power sources. an old 6v phone plug in, a game one with variable power,3v to 12v, we couldn't get either cold cathode to work on several different things. Am I missing something in the middle? Can't wait for my moonlight!!

You're not trying to connect the 9v, 12v, etc power supply directly to the cold cathode bulb are you? If so that's your problem.

I installed the 5 in line LED's in my 50g which looks awesome as night light (it's in my bed room) as well as keeping the tank lightly lited so it won't look so dark, what's cool is that I can see ripples in the tank now. Who says only MH will produce ripples. LOLZ I'll take some pix soon..

BTW: I put the first 4 demsels in the tank today, they seems to be ok so far swimming around etc.... notice that they hide when the lights are and come out when the lights are on.

Why yes I was trying to connect them to the bulb via wiring them together. If you know how, can you please tell me?
