A friend is breaking down his tank ( going to Iraq.... :( ) and he is giving me choice on his plants before advertising them in the paper.

My question is does anyone have any idea what these plants are?

I already looked around on the net for comparisons with no luck yet.

Thanks for the help!

The first one looks like hairgrass, the second one is a cryptocorne.
I have cryptocorne 'lutea' that looks something like it. Mine is red on the underside.

Goodluck to the friend who's leaving, be safe.

The first one is hairgrass, very good to have in large mass plantings as is creates a beautiful lawn. It does need a lot of light. The second one is "purple waffle" also called "purple crinkle plant". This is NOT an aquatic plant, it is a terrarium plant and needs to live on dry land. Unfortunately it is very commonly and incoorectly sold as an aquatic plant. It will not survive and will soon melt away. sorry :-(
