I was thinking of making a feeder ghost shrimp ($.25~.30 each) tank, and introducing a couple each week to my severum. He seems to relish in them. As a bi- or tri-weekly treat, is this unhealthy? He's also large enough now to handle some of the hikari cichlid foods.

So his diet would consist of loads of spirulina, hikari cichlid gold, and the odd ghost shrimp. Hikari CG has been highly reccomended to me, and judging by how well my other hikari foods were received, I can see why.

so bottom line- is it healthy for the sevvie to snack on shrimp?

IMHO and IME, feeder treats are never a bad idea assuming they are from a clean source( you addressed that ) they do not become a primary diet ( you addressed that), and they are not goldfish (you addressed that). So it sounds like a great idea to me, and your severum will probably feel the same way.
