So I have decided to go CO2 and will be receiving the last components I need to set up a preasurized system soon. I am currently using R/O water with R/O Right. In using alkaline and acid buffers I believe I have caused problems with the pH. This is partly why I have turned to CO2. I am also looking forward to a planted aquarium.

My concern is how I should reconstitute my R/O water. R/O Right seems to do its job okay, but is this all I need with the CO2 and pH controller? I have got some advice from some locals but I would like to hear what you folks might advise. Too much knowledge on this forum for me to pass up.

Oh yeah, I tried to mix tap water with R/O (1 part tap 10 parts R/O) and this resulted in very harsh conditions. I would like to try and avoid the tap and R/O mixture.

What KH and GH is the tank water?

Why are you using RO water? Please post some tap water and tank water parameters.

tank water,
KH:3
GH:4
pH:7.3/7.7

tap water,
KH:5
GH:5
pH:8.2

CO2 is uncharted territory for me. I understand I need probably a higher KH before I start the CO2. Beyond that, I could use some good suggestions.
thanks

I see no isssue at all with the tap water. Was the pH measure done of fresh from the tap water or aged/aerated water? Was there so other specific reason for using RO?

That is tested straight from the tap. After it has sat for a day or so it levels at about 7.9. How I started using R/O is a long story. Basically I intended on buffering my water to an intended pH. This obviously did not work and my plants are looking terrible.
