Some sort of disease

CMac

Native Longhorn
I have...well had now, a powder blue gourami. I have had him for a month or two, maybe longer and he was doing fine. Then I noticed he was staying in the back of the tank, very reclusive. Then yesterday I noticed he was headfirst in the gravel and at first glance thought maybe he was just digging at some food because I could see he was still kicking. I came back a few minutes later and he was still there so I got him up with the net. Half of his mouth was covered with what looked like a brown/green growth and he was just gasping for air. He also had some spots I hadn't noticed on him. He definitely looked like he was in some pain. I immediately put him in a small 1 gallon tank to get him away from the other fish. He unfortunately died a few hours later, probably from shock more than anything else. It's strange because he seemed to be doing fine for so long. I do have a neon dwarf in there as well who seems to be doing ok. At least I haven't seen any growth on his face. I know this seems pretty vague, but if anyone has any clues or a website that might help, I would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks.

there is alot of problems with dwarf gouramis i have never heard of algae growth on its face and neither can i help u out with that..
but i can help u with purchasing ur next one........
make sure there are no bumps on their boby and especially around the mouth region....
i have noticed that dwarfs alot of times get tumors..
this is especailly true with red flames.....
not so much the regular strain of dwarf gourmais but the hybrids like powder blues and red flames get it alot....

so inspect ur fish very carefully before u buy next time.....
