I just setup a new 29 gallon tank, I have a heater, a filter, and a bubble stick. I used a de-chlorinator for the water. But after 24 hours of running there seemed to be a foam on the top, I am not sure if this is from the bubbles, or a sign of something else. Will this hurt fish if I put them in? Any comments would be appreciated. THanks.

How long are you going to wait to put fish in?

I hope you read the article about Fishless cycling if you haven't DO IT NOW!!!! Also you may want to read the Article on ICH because it seems to be a fairly common disease that a lot of new tanks run into. Just so you know what signs to look out for.

If you want to do a fish cycle scope around for the a post I made earlier asking about what fish would be appropriate even though a lot of people here will advise against it.

Good luck and I'm sure you'll find all the answers or at least links to articles for all your questions! :p

Oh and to answer your question the bubbles and foam should be ok they just need to settle, Maybe the power of your filter current along with the bubble stick are making this foam combination. If you worry about the water then just test it.

I have several bubble makers and the bubbles always pop as soon as they get to the top. I don't think your bubbles are the problem. Did you use soap, windex or something besides water to clean the tank or ornaments before you used it? It's possible there was a film on the tank surface that didn't get cleaned off.

I didnt use any chemicals I just rinsed with water before I put everything in the tank. Today there is not alot. just a little bit and it seems to be from the bubble maker, because I turned it off overnight, and there was nothing.

i am having the same problem in a 55 gallon tank...didn't have any foam or bubbles until I added Tetra Aqua Safe. They are slowly but surly starting to dissapate but they have been really bothering me. Has anyone else had this problem with this product? Does anyone know of a better product to use?

I have been useing Prime lately,it dosen't make that foam. When I used to use Stress Coat,I would sometimes get foam on the water.I think Prime is probably the best water conditioner out there,it is very economical, very little goes a long way.

Generally how long does it take for a newly setup tank with water conditioner to lose the bubbles?
