Bettas are generally easy going except around other bettas, other anabantoids (gouramis, paradise fish, etc.), or around "finny" fish like guppies, goldfish, etc. Your Tiger Barbs however, will not allow a slow moving long-finned fish like a betta much chance. Tiger Barbs are very aggressive and long-finned and slow fish will not do well with them.

I would also consider that Tiger barbs are fin-nippers so big finned bettas are a bad idea (such as Siamese fighters)
