I have two angels... about 4 inches each from tip to tip. Recently, they both had a case of mouth fungus, which I treated with kordon ich plus. That subsided. Now, they both have fin rot, and I am using melafix this time. However, after 3 days of treatment, the problem only seems to be getting worse. Any suggestions?

I might add that these are not MY fish, per se... my step-daughter's. But she is not here to deal with them, and I really don't know much about angels. They are in a 25 gallon tall with neons, a lonely swordtail, 3 small cories, and a black ghost knifefish... yes... I know... weird and overstocked combo, but not my decision.

Maybe thats part of the problem why they are getting sick so often. Black ghost knife get pretty huge.

Well, sometimes angels are just more suseptible(sp?) to fungus/finrot. I have found Melafix to be the best treatment out there for finrot, especially on angels. So you've got hte right meds. You should be seeing an improvement in them soon.

Do you know what your water perameters are? What temp are you keeping them at? If the fish keep getting sick, it might be the result of not-so-good husbandery (upkeep). You mentioned your step-daughter isn't around to take care of them, so maybe the water quality has gone down hill some? Remember, water changes are always good, just not to much at a time. I would bring the temp up to 80 if its not there already. Good luck!

Tank parameters... did a 25% change on Saturday when I started the medication. Generally, they get a 25-30% change every week. Took the carbon filter out. Water at about 78F.. will turn up the heater some. I haven't done any water tests on the tank lately. And I am trying to talk my SD into either moving or getting rid of the knifefish. I know that the tank is not going so well, as I have had to remove a number of dying plants (not enough light or co2). If my tank wasn't maxed at the moment, I would at least take the tetras out and put them in my tank.

Thanks for the responses.
