My porcupine won't eat anything. I have given him krill, bloodworms, beefheart, ghost shrimp, rosys, steak, and bacon.
I purchased him saturday, and he hasn't eaten since then.
I put a damsel in there to show him how to eat.
no luck, any advice?

Justin

I have had them in the past and I fed mine clams from the grocery store. I would just drop them in the tank and he would eat. How big is your puffer? Is he ballooning out at all? He very well might just need live feeders like guppies or something if he is large enough. Did you ask the place where you bought him what they were feeding? What about your water quality? Sorry, I cant help much, just trying to think of what I did with mine.

The water is a little hard. not very. I'm running to walmart to pick up some clams and shrimp. Maybe that'll do it. I hope so:( The water is fine though. I have my girlfriend at home and she did all the test and said the water was a little hard, and other than that, it was at a high quality water standard. *sigh* gr.

What's the salinity?

I'd ask the LFS to see what they were feeding it, but really, it can take these guys a week or more to get comfortable enough to eat. My striped burrfish was in the tank for 2 weeks before he decided to take anything--now he's a pig I don't trust around my fingers.

It just scares me, because he looks like he's about to die. He has a milky look in his eyes, and isn't the vibrant color he use to be. My girlfriend says it looks like he could die any hour now... I've seen my fahaka do this. He turns brownish when he's not doing well. I'm always able to make him better... I can't seem to do it with the porcupine puffer...gr...Frustraition.
Salinity 1.021 i think. something around the avg.

Thanks everyone

I really need help. I don't know if this has been read. but his eyes are white and he is just sitting at the bottom. He hasn't eaten. the ph is perfect. and everything is in great condition. the tank is healthy. Nothing seems to be working.

thanks

Justin

Puffers are tricky from what I know. Do you know when the LFS got Him/Her? I'm sure you know it's important to watch the fish be active in the shop. You say the PH is fine, what about your ammonia? All levels need to be in tolerance for something like a puffer to survive.

I wish you the best, puffers rock, but if it looks worse in the morning take it back to POS and see if they can refuge him/her... take a sample of your water too, let them test it and see if maybe ... MAYBE your kit is messed up.

Tank was cycled. Has been running fine for a while. I figured it out. Parasites. Somehow he had parasites. So I got him the parasite removal stuff. He still looks bad. Hopefuly by morning time he'll look a little better. I can only hope. I shortned the dose a lot because he's scale-less, and doesn't have very protective skin for copper and what not.

thanks again everyone, you all have been great.

It deffinitly was parasites. I gave him the stuff too late. He didn't show many signs of parasites til it was too late... It sad. Well.. As Mr. T. Said..(I think..or maybe it was him in my dreams...whats mr t doing in my dreams...ergh, anyway) Live and burn.

RIP Puffy

Justin
