A pair of clowns is a good choice. With a tank that size, any species will work well. Clowns are easy to keep, host anemones are generally difficult, and the clowns don't need an anemone. Breeders don't use them at all.

You have a lot of choices of other fish. Gobies, blennies, the small-medium tangs (yellow, kole, convict, purple, scopas, e.g.), cardinals, and others. The numbers depend a lot on the behavior of the species.

For polyps, mushrooms, yellow polyps, green star polyps, zoanthids are quite hardy. Your choices will largely depend on your lighting.

clownfish are wonderful I have a pair of tomato's. What kind do you want? Well I recommend either some gobies or blennies as well. I have mine with 2 scooter blennies and a yellowhead jawfish. I have no anemone and they are quite happy. I don't know about polyps I was considering them myself. What kind of lighting do u have?

Idols are very hard for experts to keep alive it will probably starve to death in short order. The long nose won't be as much of a problem for you but decide if you want them or corals and kin .
I know this isn't what you're asking and if I'm stepping on your toes I really apologise. I wouldn't try either fish until you get some practice at keeping your tank stable. I probably wouldn't ever try an Idol unless I somehow end up with a 2000 gallon full reef and even then it would be a maybe. Also whenever you buy a fish make sure it will get along with whatever else you're going to add down the road. For example if you want a tang,"surgeon fish", lots of the b-flys will end up on some of the surgeon's operating table etc. IMO the best way to start is with nice easy hardy cheap fish like clowns, tangs, gramahs, cardnals, blennies etc, That way you only have a relative few fish that you won't be able add latter on down the road. They will give you practice not waste a lot of you hard earned $ or cause you needless pain when the $5 damnsel kills the $ 105 rare clown .
