:( well i have just about lost my whole tank of fish now!
I have read all that i can find about treatments so heres my question to you all?
How high can the heat be to treat Ich im at steady 81 right now! I have a 65 gallon tank which i treat at 55 gallons because of all the plants and such! I ended up stripping the tank yesterday and restarting it due to the fact that i have already lost most of my fish!!!My 6in Bella shark, and my beautiful big angle is now just holding on All neons are gone etc...What i have left is a Ruby clown 5 tetras 3 cories 2 frogs (cant believe they made it :eek: )and our fav wormy worm!(dont know his real name) Some kind of long sucker fish(not a pacossamis *sp)Any thoughts ?
 
How old was/is the tank and how long was it set up. Also, do you have any readings from water tests? I also suggest looking at the Ich article in the Articles Forum (just look on the main forum index near the top).
 
Good day i have had this tank up and running for five years and never had such a problem!
I have stripped the whole tank yesterday due to the fact that there is just to muck ich and to many fish dieing. I have restarted the tank with hotter water 81 worked up slowly for the remaining fish plus added five table spoons of tank salt and i am keeping the lights off..My Angle is in a huge net to help her stay upright and also to help her not have to work so hard (maybe give her strengh) hoping she will pull through but i honestly dont think she will she is very weak)My question is how long should i keep this up?

Okay, it doesn't sound like you read the article we suggested so please do for the sake of your fish. Here's a link even, to make it easier to get to. You are not using enough salt for one thing. Secondly you need to treat the Ich with heat and salt for at least one week after the last spot falls off of the last infected fish, or you risk it coming back. Please, read the article so you understand the life cycle of Ich and the salt/heat treatment better. It can't hurt your fish to understand Ich better, it can only help them.

But here lies my question again.. I have corys still alive Will the high leavel of salt harm them?
 
Er, the article addresses that. It can harm them. Will it? Most people that use salt-heat report that it is less harmful and stressful for scaleless fish than even the meds targetted at scaleless fish. FWIW, the number of people on this board that have used sal-heat with success and even with fish like cories and loaches, without losing a single fish sort of speaks for itself. Maybe some will chime in later. Obviously that's no guarantee, but Ich will kill your fish if something doesn't kill the Ich.
 
good point ah well here its goes i have already mixed the next batch of salt to go in and i just finished putting my angle out of her misery :sad Kinda sucks after having her for five years!

Sorry you had to euthanize her. Still, five years is a pretty decent run for a fish, although at this time I am certain that is of little consolation. Good luck with the treatment and let us know how it goes. We are always interested in helping and how well articles like Daveedka's can help others.
