Sorry, for the multiple threads. I am about to go spend some money today and want to make sure it will work, to prevent further large expenses.

I do not have a drilled tank and I do not have enough room for a sump underneath. This is what i have and what i plan on buying.
Have-
55 gallon 48x13x21
2 powerheads penguin 1140,660 (they seem cheap, considering buying more)
40lbs liverock
Plan on buying-
4-54 T-5's
CPR Bakpak
50lbs liverock
Eheim wet/dry canister? (No sump, But i was trying to figure out a way to get some more filteration, to make it more stable) Is this a bad idea and a waste of money. Will I be fine without it?

Will this work for some easy soft corals and mushrooms?

It will work without the filters (though you list both 40# and 50# of live rock--you'd be better off having a total of about 70-80#'s total). What kind of substrate will you have?

40lbs+an additional 50lbs of liverock for a total of 90lbs. It is crushed coral, but it will be sand once they get some more in. Will that cause problems transferring from CC to sand. Should i do a half and half change to let the bacteria transfer or should i do it in one shot and utilize the nylon sock method?

Is the tank cycled with the CC? If not, I would just pull it all out now, add the sand. You can save a lot of money by using regular play sand and then seeding it with quality live sand (IMO, the stuff sold in bags off the shelf is not quality live sand). Otherwise, yes, you'll need to keep some of the CC in the tank for a while to aid with the colonization of the sand. I prefer to avoid this if possible--removing CC from a full tank, with live rock in there, is a huge pain, clouds the water, etc.

It's cycled with CC, I like the look and would like to keep it, but 75% of the people I talk to say a DSB is better
